NEW YORK -- Jason Giambi homered twice and Andy Pettitte hurled eight solid innings to help the Yankees defeat the Tigers on Friday, 6-1, snapping New York's three-game losing streak.

Alex Rodriguez followed with a ground-rule double to left that brought home Phillips with the go-ahead run.
