1. 主要子句是未來式，if 後面就用現在式 (39題正是這樣)
2. 主要子句是現在式，if 後面就用過去式
3. 主要子句是過去式，if 後面就用過去完成式
反正 if 都要比主要子句倒推一個時態就是了
那麼第40題，前面是現在完成式，所以if後面是什麼? 答對了，就是過去完成式。很容易吧！

前面用 would 而不是用 will 主要是因為這是「過去式的」假設句子。
「假設他以前沒遇到泰瑞沙的話......」
而 would 後面的動詞一定要原型，所以是 have。

之後是 had 而不是 has 也主要是因為這是「過去式的」假設。
換句話說，所有「不可能發生的」假設都一定要用過去式。
（既然是過去式的假設就表示已經不可能改變了，畢竟時空機還沒問世。）

也可以說如果太陽從南邊升起...
也可以說如果太陽從北邊升起...
這些都是用過去式。
但是如果妳說：
如果太陽明天繼續從東邊升起的話我就要努力學英文。
這裡就要用現在式，因為這個「如果」是有可能達成的。
