由於美國近期起針對亞裔的騷擾事件逐漸增加，昨日美國萬代首先在 Twitter 上發起停止歧視亞裔運動，然而晚間卻發生了亞特蘭大連環槍擊事件，今（18）日索尼、微軟、動視暴雪、Bethesda 等多家遊戲公司也陸續發聲明聲援 AAPI（亞太裔美國人）、呼籲停止對亞太裔的仇恨行為，索尼也向「停止仇恨亞太裔」（Stop AAPI Hate）非營利性組織捐款，表達對制止仇恨活動的支持。
由於武漢肺炎疫情，亞裔人士在歐美的處境不佳，據路透社報導，加州州立大學聖博納迪諾分校的仇恨與極端主義研究中心報告，2020年全美16大都會區針對亞裔的仇恨攻擊事件，較去年同期劇烈上升了149%。Stop AAPI Hate 則認為針對亞太裔美國人的敵意態度，在疫情期間確實出現了極具族群針對性的仇恨飆升。
因此同樣受到影響的萬代南夢宮美國分公司昨日便在官方推特發起 #StopAsianHate 運動，獲得許多網友響應「作為母公司在日本的企業，最近對於亞洲人上升的仇恨確實影響到我們的員工。」「我們一直感謝粉絲們的支持，現在我們也希望你們能支持 #StopAsianHate 運動，並對抗日漸增加針對亞裔人士的犯罪。」

多家遊戲公司、媒體、遊戲業內人士今日也開始發文呼籲停止仇恨亞太裔的行為。索尼號召反對不斷增加的仇恨犯罪活動，此外SIE還宣布他們會向Stop AAPI Hate捐款，同時希望玩家們也能加入其中。
